There's still time to register for the SCOPE summer music and art enrichment program

Don’t miss out on this year’s SCOPE summer music and arts enrichment program, which will run from Monday, June 27 through Friday, July 27. Huntington UFSD is once again collaborating with SCOPE on this initiative, which will be co-directed by teachers Jenna Rinaldi and Nicole Lynch.

The program is for students entering first through ninth grades. It will be held at Huntington High School. Fees are set at $185 per period with a 10 percent per additional sibling discount.

Participants may choose to register for up to four periods of classes. Periods are 50 minutes in length and run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. Space is limited. Courses are filled in the order in which registrations are received.

This summer’s classes include Ukulele, Crafts, Ceramics, Orchestra, Band and Cartooning just to name a few. A new addition to the program are a selection of STEM courses, including Edible Science, Lego Engineering, Coding & Robotics,

The program will be co-directed by Huntington teachers Jenna Rinaldi and Nicole Lynch. All New York State COVID-19 related protocols existing at the time of the program will be followed.

There are 17 courses being offered during the summer program. The classes include:
• Beginning Band (entering grade 4 only)
• Beginning Orchestra (entering grade 4 only)
• Advanced Band (entering grades 5-9)
• Advanced Orchestra (entering grades 5-9)
• Jazz Band (entering grades 5-9)
• Electronic Music (all grades)
• Ukulele Jam Band I (entering grades 4-6)
• Ukulele Jam Band II (entering grades 7-9)
• Keyboarding/Piano (all grades)
• Musical Theater (all grades)
• Dance (all grades)
• Cartooning (all grades)
• Ceramics (all grades)
• Crafts (all grades)
• Fashion (all grades)
• Jewelry Design (all grades)
• Polymer Clay (all grades)

The Musical Theater class is offered in a three-period block, beginning at 9:30 a.m. and running to 12:20 p.m. There will be singing, acting and movement. “Students will be singing and acting in this creative class as we prepare for a mini production,” states the course description. “All students are encouraged to sign-up for this course regardless of their acting or singing experience.” The class fee is $550 with an additional fee of $40 covering the cost of costumes and show licensing.
