The J. Taylor Finley Middle School girls’ track and field team had a great turnout this spring and show signs of being a very powerful squad.

The team is coached by Timothy Madden and Sarah Hall. It practices at Finley and holds its home meets at Blue Devil Stadium.

Team members have been busy acclimating to all the different running and field events and honing their skills. Coaches have been working with the athletes to get them into events that match their talents.

The roster includes seventh graders Amy Andrade, Alexandra Boeckmann, Ghemie Cantave, Ariana Corvoisier, Piper Davis, Lauren Dopico, Chelsea Drummings, Michaella Excellent Mesidor, Anya Goleski, Justina Hlenski, Sophie Hoffman, Lucy Lee, Saniah Lewis, Camora McKay, Marilyn Mendoza Virula, Norah Moskowitz, Allison Sifontes Torres and Emma Sobocienski and eighth graders Jasmine Awuah, Jordana Boxer, Emma Boyle, Jamyn Husselbeck, Annie Olmedo, Emma Polinsky, Dana Saramago and Ariana Zavala Nunez.

Finley has meets scheduled with East Islip, Elwood, East Northport, Oldfield, Deer Park, Kings Park and West Babylon.

Finley’s coaches believe they have several athletes who have the potential to develop into stars in the sport, including those in the sprinting, distance, jumping and throwing events.
