October 29 , 2021

The Huntington High School robotics team will hold a fundraising event on Wednesday, November 17 from 7:00-9:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Halesite. It promises to be a fun night for everyone. The entire community is invited to attend.

The annual event will be hosted by the Huntington Robotics Parents Association. Admission is $60. To RSVP or purchase tickets, visit www.team5016.com. Questions? Send a message to huntingtonroboticsinc@gmail.com.

The American Legion Hall is located at 1 Mill Dam Road in Halesite. This year’s Huntington Robotics team is hoping to make a splash regionally and nationally.

Founded in 2013, Huntington Robotics has advanced to the FIRST World Championships several times and captured many other honors and awards along the way.

The team is for everyone, not just technological or engineering wizards. The program has so many aspects to it that those who might not even be scientifically or mathematically inclined can find a welcoming home on FIRST Team 5016, as the squad is officially known.

The 2021/22 Blue Devil team is led by Alex Frawley (captain), Luke Rinaldi (vice-captain), Richard Zboray (chief business officer) and Anthony Amitrano (chief technology officer).

Those attending the November 17 fundraiser will be able to meet this year’s team leaders, inspect last season’s robot that Huntington students built and find out more about the Blue Devil program as well as this year’s competitive schedule.

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) encourages young people to pursue careers in engineering and science by showing them how interesting and fun those fields can be. “Our mission is to show students of every age that science, technology and problem-solving are not only fun and rewarding, but are proven paths to successful careers and a bright future for us all,” states the FIRST website.
