The Woodhull Eagle of the Month Award was presented to an exceptional group of youngsters

October 7, 2021

Woodhull Intermediate School’s Eagle of the Month Awards for September were presented to an exceptional group boys and girls spanning fourth, fifth and sixth grades.

Principal Scott Oshrin was excited to honor the outstanding youngsters. Mr. Oshrin became the building’s educational leader this past summer after serving as principal of Southdown Primary School for many years.

The Eagle of the Month initiative works like this: Homeroom teachers select one student each month from their homeroom classes to be honored. The youngsters are selected for modeling good behavior, being respectful to their peers and teachers and for working hard in the classroom. “I am proud to honor these amazing students and look forward to doing so throughout the school year,” Mr. Oshrin said.

The names of the award recipients are posted on a bulletin board; a letter is sent home to families and Mr. Oshrin creates a video to send out to the teachers and community. It’s available on demand at the link below.

September’s Eagle of the Month Award winners include:

Fourth grade: Keyri Umanzor Benitez, Gretchen Schmid, Charlotte Kindelmann, Steven Lopez Cruz, Grace Gonzalez, Leo McTaggart-Levonte Jr, Marc Rosendo Valerio; Fifth grade: Zoe Chiclacos, Camila Guardado Jandres, Edwin Hernandez Amaya, Alexis Hanlon, Samantha Jimenez Acosta, Oliver Frintzilas, Helena Sullivan; Sixth grade: Joan Manzanares Maradiaga, Anabella Rafailan, Elsy Chavez Chavez, Jose Ruiz Maldonado, Kamayah Newkirk Sands, Alina Qasim, Gabriella Jones
