Flower Hill Primary School is in the midst of its second month of the 2021/22 school year and while many COVID-19 related safety modifications are in place, there is also a sense of normalcy about the building.
Students are busy working with their teachers and going about their business with enthusiasm. The kids are having fun and they are learning. The two go hand in hand at Flower Hill.
“We are off to a great start to the year,” Principal Lucia Laguarda said. “We have wonderful students in our building and they are all working hard.”
Ms. Laguarda said one of the best parts of her job is recognizing youngsters as the building’s Stars of the Month. September’s award winners were recently honored for displaying a long list of desirable qualities from working hard and cooperating with teachers and classmates to expressing a positive attitude in everything they do around the building.
The honorees include:
Kindergarten: Nathaniel Lyons, Cosette Rodgers, Gabriel Lyons, Bradley Lorenzo Guerrero
First Grade: Hutchinson Steinhaus, Anderson Steinhaus, Jaylenn Saravia Bueso, Livia Correa, David Casey IV
Second Grade: Colin Kiernan, Madison Rodgers, Nicholas Mills
Third Grade: Anderson Gudiel Gregorio, Kimberly Hernandez Aparicio, Brady Weiss, Selimah Dease
“It really is an honor to recognize these fine young people for their effort, enthusiasm and achievements throughout September,” Ms. Laguarda said. “Our teachers and paraprofessional support staff members have been so impressed with these youngsters and with so many of Flower Hill’s students, who are all working hard to make this the best year of school they have ever had.”
