Huntington Robotics is gathering steam for the upcoming competitive season

November 9, 2021

Huntington Robotics continues to gather steam. The high school’s robotics club program participated in an invitational competition last weekend at Half Hollow Hills West, which featured last year’s robot.

The 2021/22 Blue Devil team is led by Alex Frawley (captain), Luke Rinaldi (vice-captain), Richard Zboray (chief business officer) and Anthony Amitrano (chief technology officer).

Last Saturday’s competition at Hills West went well and served many useful purposes. “It was a great opportunity to show new members what competitions are like and demonstrate to our skills,” Mr. Frawley said.

The organization also recently participated in the homecoming bonfire night activities, demonstrating its robot and selling items that members of the group made in robotics. “This was a great opportunity for new members to learn to use the tools and machinery that we will use for the year,” Mr. Frawley said.

The team will host its annual fundraiser on Wednesday, November 17 at the American Legion Hall in Halesite from 7:00-9:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $60, which includes food and refreshments. There will also be raffles to support the club and an opportunity to learn more about Huntington’s robotics program.

The fundraiser is expected to attract a crowd of sponsors, industry leaders, parents, school officials and robotics team members. “We are raising money for our team to purchase everything we need for this year,” Mr. Frawley said. “The fundraiser will help us in our future endeavors and donations are tax deductible as we are a 501(c)(3) organization.”
