The Blue Devil boys’ lacrosse team is streaking. Huntington has won 10 consecutive games without a loss and sits in first place in Suffolk.

Huntington’s latest conquest came earlier this week when the Blue Devils toppled visiting South Fork, which is a collection of East End high schools on one team. It was Senior Day at Blue Devil Stadium and fans were typically loud.

While Huntington won the game, 13-5, it wasn’t easy and the men in blue had to work for it. The two teams battled to a 2-2 standoff in the opening frame before Huntington managed to take a 6-3 lead by halftime. The Blue Devils opened up their offense in the second half, outscoring South Fork 7-2 to take command of the game.

Liam Hassett scored three goals and Jack O’Brien added three goals and an assist. Robbie Smith had two goals and an assist. Jack Krisch tallied a goal and three assists. Liam Lennon notched a goal and a pair of assists. Chris Maichin scored a goal and assisted on another. Aidan McNulty and Steven Queen also scored in the game.

Sophomore Anthony Annunziata played his role to perfection, winning 21 face-offs. Goalie Alex Fascilla was exceptional, stopping many rockets fired at him and making a series of saves of several hard to track low shots. Fascilla’s eight saves prevented South Fork (6-4) from gathering any momentum in the game.

The Blue Devils play at Smithtown East today (May 27) at 4:30 p.m. Huntington hosts Longwood on Saturday at 10 a.m. and Ward Melville on June 2 at 4:15 p.m. The Blue Devils play their final regular season game at Riverhead on June 4 at 4:30 p.m.
