Nancy Conlon has been with the J. Taylor Finley Middle School softball program for decades as its coach. Now she is set to retire at the conclusion of the season. Her players are enjoying these finals weeks with the Huntington High School alum who has meant so much to the Blue Devil program over the years.
Conlon was a star pitcher for Huntington High School and later at CW Post College. She has guided the Finley program for 30 years, but now she is set to retire from teaching a coaching and relocate to South Carolina where her son and his family reside.
In her remaining weeks with the Finley softball program, Conlon is having fun with her players on their field located along Greenlawn Road.
Finley’s roster includes 18 seventh and eighth graders. It’s a nice mix of talents and personalities and everyone is working well together.
The team features seventh graders Emily Barba, Kathleen Cocoman, Gabriela Genao, Aniya Guerrero, Angelina Hernandez, Giovanna Lanfranco, Odalys Salazar Bolanos and Belinda Velasquez Maldona; and eighth graders Brianna Borenstein, Sofia Ciccotto, Lauren Donaghy, Damaris Fuentes, Emily Kustera, Mia Molina-Baptista, Maggie O’Toole, Erika Reyes, Kaylee Smalling and Anne Tyrell.
Finley has games scheduled against Commack-Gold, Kings Park-Maroon, Northport, Oldfield and East Northport. The season runs through June 7.
Conlon will miss Finley and her players. She hopes to head to her new home with some special memories from her final season in Huntington.
