Chris Segreti does nothing halfway. When the Huntington High School senior steps on a baseball field, he takes no prisoners; going all out to win. When he walks into a classroom he strives to master every last bit of material and ace every test.
Mr. Segreti has practiced and studied hard. He’s excelled in both the athletic and academic arenas and he’s set high goals for himself. He’s decided that his next stop will be the University of Delaware, where new and exciting challenges await.
Huntington High School senior Christopher Segreti.
“I chose Delaware because I loved the campus and the school has great academics,” Mr. Segreti said. “The school has a great town built inside the campus and has a great social/academic balance. I felt that it was an awesome fit for me. I was accepted into the engineering program at UD and I’m planning on studying civil engineering.”
The senior has earned very good grades while taking a long list of tough courses. “Huntington definitely has prepared me for college,” Mr. Segreti said. “The high school offers a wide variety of great classes that I recommend taking. A few classes that will help me include, AP Computer Science and AP Physics.”
The teenager is looking forward to the next four years of college and to further exploring his interests as well as trying some new things. Mr. Segreti intends to continue working hard as he goes about preparing for a career in engineering.
“At Delaware I plan on playing club baseball or maybe even try out for the NCAA Division I team,” Mr. Segreti said. “I also was accepted into the UD honors program so I will be participating in that.”
The senior has done very well in Huntington’s classrooms and teachers speak highly of him. His impeccable preparation carries over into every area of his life. It’s all part of his philosophy to give whatever he takes on all of his energy and attention.
“A few classes that I really enjoyed throughout high school were Algebra with Mr. [Nicholas] Wagner, AP Biology with Mrs. [Deborah] Beck, and Engineering Design with Mrs. [Stacey] Byrnes,” Mr. Segreti said.
The teenager is very closely identified with the Blue Devil baseball team, playing on the varsity in each of the past four years. He played basketball as a freshman and sophomore and has been inducted in the National Honor Society along with the Math Honor Society and Science Honor Society. He’s a Natural Helper, quietly assisting classmates in their time of need.
“I recommend taking as many challenging classes as possible,” Mr. Segreti said. “Huntington offers a wide variety of electives that are very beneficial.”
The senior is off to an exceptional start with the Huntington baseball team this spring and the Blue Devil fortunes are looking up. It will be hard to take off the uniform for the last time.
“I loved Huntington High School,” Mr. Segreti said. “I thought all of the teachers were great and super helpful. I will always remember all my friends and all the memories we made together.”
