Seven Huntington High School football players captured post-season honors following the Blue Devils’ recent spring season.
Robbie Smith was named to the All-Division and All-County teams. Chad Rowe, Tyriek Mays-McKoy, Nick Tudisco, Torin Bograd and Josiah Melendez were all tapped as All-Division. Alexander Bellissimo was recognized as a National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete.
The 36 player strong team compiled a 2-2 mark during a season that included several canceled games due to COVID-19 related quarantines.
Coached by Steve Muller, Eddie Santos and Kevin Graham, Huntington was captained by Tudisco, Bograd, Bellissimo and Nasir Youngblood. (Todd Jamison also worked with the team as the Blue Devils’ speed, strength and conditioning coach.)
Huntington topped Connetquot (54-0) and Smithtown West (42-14) and dropped games to Northport (23-6) and Centereach (10-7).
The Blue Devils are graduating seniors Aidan Bender, Aidan Bonn, Matthew Colavhecchio, Thomas Combs, Andrew Florvil, Shakel Plummer, Cameron Santa-Maria, Joseph Nicotra, Joseph Tropeano, Vincent Vilardi, Kyeon Lyons and Tudisco, Bograd, Bellissimo, Rowe and Youngblood, an All-State player that was forced to the sidelines for most of the year after getting injured in the opening game.
Huntington is set to return sophomores Ahmari Gordon, Bryan Maldonado-Acosta, Isaiah Thomas and Sergio Velasquez and juniors Lorenzo Aloe, Manuel Aviles, Jr., Raseac Caleb, John Chirico, Tylill Evans, Elias Frazier, Jahiem Hawkins, John Marziliano, Liam McDonald, Josiah Melendez, Jack O’Brien, Lucas Petrizzi, Ryan Porzio, Kaleef Riley, Nicholas Smalling and Robbie Smith.
“Our goal next fall is to work toward being the best we can be on and off the field,” Muller said.
Fall season practice begins on Monday, August 23.
