The Huntington JV football team defeated Copiague in convincing fashion, 32-0

The Huntington High School junior varsity football team put on another impressive offensive display, accumulating 378 yards of total offense while turning back visiting Copiague, 32-0.

Huntington scored 13 unanswered first quarter points and led 26-0 at halftime. The Blue Devils were never seriously threatened. Keishan Miller rushed 14 times for 120 yards and a touchdown. Jayden Taylor (two carries for 21 yards), Leonid Martinez (six carries for 31 yards), Christian St. John (eight carries for 75 yards) and Joe Algieri (three carries for 36 yards) also scored touchdowns in the game.

Taylor completed two of five passes for 46 yards, including a 44 yard reception by Dan McNulty and another for two yards to Christian St. John.

The ground game also received contributions from David Dje Bi (six carries for 26 yards) and Navado Petro (five carries for 23 yards).

The Blue Devil defense recorded 40 solo tackles, including eight for a loss, three quarterback sacks, five pass deflections, three caused fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

Brett Bender led the squad with seven tackles, including two for a loss and quarterback sack. John Acompora had a pair of quarterback sacks and with three solo tackles and an assist. Leonid Martinez had three tackles and two pass deflections.

Michael Kline had a big game, too, with five solo tackles, an assist and two tackles for a loss. Anthony Molina and Agostino Abbatiello had two tackles each. Chris Acompora had a tackle and two pass deflections. Zachary Zboray had four tackles, including one for a loss and an assist, two caused fumbles and a fumble recovery.

Christian Alfaro (one tackle), Keishan Miller (one pass deflection and one fumble recovery), Christian St. John (three tackles, including one for a loss), John Genova (two tackles, including one for a loss) and Nick Zahn (three tackles, including one for a loss, one caused fumble and one fumble recovery) also played key roles on defense.

Jonathan Moreno successfully converted two of three extra point attempts. Agostino Abbatiello made three tackles on kicks. Michael Kline, Brett Bender and Roberto Rodriquez each had one tackle on kicks.

Game MVP honors went to Brett Bender with Agostino Abbatiello claiming Special Team MVP recognition. Keishan Miller was named Offensive MVP with Michael Kline winning the Defensive MVP Award.

Coached by Ronald Wilson and Timothy Mattiace, the Blue Devil JV is now 2-0.
