The Huntington High School Blue Devil marching band will host a series of five “spring Saturdays” for current and prospective members beginning March 20 and continuing through May 22.

“These rehearsals are open to all current members and all interested students in grades 7-12,” said music teacher Brian Stellato, who directs the Blue Devil marching band. “We are super excited to have the opportunity to get the program up and running again. These rehearsals will give us an opportunity to give the current members a marching band experience while also working and planning toward this coming summer and fall season. Most importantly, it will give us a chance to give our seniors one last experience in this amazing organization.”

The five special Saturdays include March 20, April 10, April 24, May 15 and May 22. The sessions will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Huntington High School. All rehearsals will include appropriate COVID-19 protective guidelines.

“Over the course of these five Saturdays, we hope to really show what being a part of the Huntington Blue Devil marching band family is all about,” Mr. Stellato. “Our wonderful Band Parent Association will even be involved with helping to make these rehearsals incredibly positive and productive for all.”

The Blue Devils are led by drum majors Jorge Cisneros, Carrie Kilgour and Miles Tierney and field major Rebecca Hoffmann.

“We’re all super excited for these spring Saturdays and we will make the best of it,” Mr. Cisneros said. “The other drum majors and I will make sure everyone feels welcome at these Saturdays and show the new members the family that we are. I can’t wait for our first Saturday.”

Finley seventh and eighth graders have been personally invited by Mr. Stellato to participate in the five Saturday sessions.

“I think this year is the best year to join,” Ms. Hoffmann said. “We get to have five opportunities to check out what the band is all about with no sort of large commitment, so students can see what we do and think about if they want to join us for the 2021 season. Overall, I am super excited to be able to see the band and get back together for these few fun rehearsals.”

“We’re all so excited for this year’s marching band spring Saturdays, as us seniors are finally getting an opportunity to have a last season,” Ms. Kilgour said. “The leadership team, band parents, and staff have been working so hard to make these rehearsals really special for everyone and we are so excited for what is planned!”

“We’re planning to make the best of what we can do this year with the Saturday rehearsals,” Mr. Tierney said. “Especially without a regular season, it will be amazing to be able to work as a band, especially for me and my fellow seniors. We hope anyone interested comes and joins the Huntington Blue Devil marching band family!”
