Washington Primary School students have always been a very hardworking group of youngsters. That’s a proven fact going all the way back to the building’s opening more than 65 years ago. Thousands have studied in the school’s classrooms over the years and alums have gone on to the best colleges and universities in the country and every imaginable career field.
The world might be in the midst of a public health crisis the likes of which hasn’t been seen in more than 100 years, but the 360 youngsters who call Washington Primary School their home are doing their best, day in and day out and striving to make their time in the building count.
Principal Michelle Richards gives the school a short pep talk each morning over the public address system. Students spread across grades ranging from kindergarten through third grade pledge to work hard while acting responsibly and with respect.
Earlier this week, Dr. Richards announced the names of the most recent recipients of Washington’s monthly student awards. Naturally, all of the boys and girls who heard their name ring out were excited, to say the least.
The recent honorees include Stella Kekatos, Billy Hernandez-Ventura, Isaac Alvarenga, Liam DuPlessis, Rylan Roberts, Addy Harkinish, Arya Aydagul, Dylan Cano Figueroa, Daniela Rivas, Angela Kekatos, Olivia Voight, Matthew Alfaro, Samuel Simon, Matthew Rivera, Cecelia O’Toole, Ethan Martin, Amy Soriano and Alesha McGuire.
The entire classes of teachers Kristen Thatcher and Kerry Winberry were also recognized for their exceptional effort and performance all through the month of February.
“We are so happy and proud of February’s Washington Ways Award recipients,” Dr. Richards said. “They take pride in their work and they, too, are very proud of all they have accomplished this year and rightly so.”
