Huntington Duo to Sing at Arts for Autism

Huntington's Victoria Garbarino and Sarah Biernacki will perform at the Arts for Autism program.

March 3 , 2021

Huntington High School choral director Victoria Garbarino and senior Sarah Biernacki will sing at the Arts for Autism Broadway benefit concert that brings together some of the biggest names on stage with exceptional performing arts students from across the country.

“Sarah invited me to be a part of the choir comprised of all music educators after she was asked to be a featured soloist,” Ms. Garbarino said. “We will both be singing alongside Elizabeth Stanley from Broadway’s Jagged Little Pill.”

Ms. Biernacki is engaged in a credit bearing internship with Ms. Garbarino this year. The duo submitted video footage of themselves teaching a class at Huntington High School to organizers of Arts for Autism and an edited version of the film is expected to be shown during the concert.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of it all is that Ms. Biernacki will be a featured soloist and will be singing with a friend and Broadway star Elizabeth Stanley of Jagged Little Pill while the choir of music educators backs them up. (The teenager was a speaker at a previous Arts for Autism benefit concert and sang with her group.)

The performance will be available for viewing online on April 12 at 7:30 p.m. Visit https://www.stellartickets.com/o/believe-nyc-and-educational-travel-adventures/events/arts-for-autism/occurrences/3f36ac54-672e-4004-bca2-2ab39b03e97bfor more information.

“After cancelling our 2020 concert, this year Broadway stars and students will join together online for our first virtual concert,” according to a website devoted to the event. “We are excited to welcome back Tony Award winner Kelli O’Hara (The King and I) and artistic director Jacque Carnahan along with performers from some of Broadway’s biggest shows: Phoenix Best (Dear Evan Hansen), Jackie Burns (Wicked), Adam Jacobs (Aladdin), Tony nominee Elizabeth Stanley (Jagged Little Pill), John Michael Dias (Beautiful the Carole King Musical), Libby Servais (Wicked), Stephan Stubbins (Mary Poppins) and more. Together, but apart, they’ll perform, spread awareness, and inspire compassion, kindness, and understanding for those affected by autism. We hope you’ll join us for this evening celebrating hope and new beginnings as we look

Forward to a brighter future for all.”
