It’s easy to think that every student leads a so-called charmed life, but unfortunately, that’s simply not the case. Many face serious obstacles and challenges that require inner fortitude and the help of others to battle through. Huntington High School senior Isabelle Grenier has refused to allow the curves she has been thrown to sidetrack her life. The spectacular teenager is this year’s recipient of the Principal’s Award.
Ms. Grenier has battled some of the toughest personal challenges that anyone can possibly face. “Yet she has persevered,” Huntington Principal Brenden Cusack said.
Isabelle Grenier garnered the 2021 Huntington High School Principal's Award.
A lovely young woman by any definition, Ms. Grenier is an inspiration to anyone who is familiar with her story. It’s nothing she wants to discuss or have written about with any specificity here, but suffice it to say that many people would have folded in the face of what she has had to deal with over the years. But she didn’t.
“Isabelle has taken more difficult courses, including honors as Advanced Placement classes as the years have gone on, yet her challenges have only become more trying,” guidance counselor Lauren Brunoni said. “She has overcome more than any student I’ve had since becoming a counselor. She tackles every challenge head on and does so with class and grace. Unfortunately, she hasn't been able to join any clubs or get involved as much as she wants to, but school has always been a priority for her and she has done as much as she can considering the circumstances. She is a special kid!”
