Washington Primary School students were smiling as dozens of youngsters were presented with special awards one recent morning.
Principal Michelle Richards announced May’s Washington Ways Award recipients. As the names of the award winners rang out over the school’s public address system, classmates cheered while their friends headed down to the main lobby to pick-up a certificate and pose for a photo.
May’s Washington Ways Award honorees included Preston Niedziela, Lorenzo Lopez Velasquez, Keyla Pineda Castro, Anderson Steinhaus, Steven Graber, William Yoda, Iby Abarca Cruz, Jose Cisneros, Crystal Valle, Carmella Booker, Lana Thomas, Desmond Cunningham, Raedyn Gunnarson, Thomas Evernham, Daniel Voight, Gavin Zarcone, Anthony Cabrera, Litzy Molina, Leslie Cisneros Morales, Angie Artiga Villatoro, Mayerlin Orellana Perez, Russell Chowdhury and William Guandique Saravia.
The entire classes of teachers Joanne Tures, Melissa Mazzalonga and Vanessa Ulloa were recognized as May’s Blue Ticket Award honorees.
“While it has been a very challenging school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our students have risen to the occasion and we are very proud of them,” Dr. Richards said.
Washington students are proving to be an exceptionally resilient group. They have navigated through a very difficult and unique period in world history and have made the best of it in every situation.
