Huntington UFSD’s annual art show is going virtual in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A link will be shared on the district website and Facebook page on June 3.
“K-12 student work will be displayed through a visual art presentation in place of the annual in-person exhibit due to COVID restrictions,” said Eric Reynolds, district director of fine and performing arts. “This year, some materials, supplies and projects were not able to be worked with, but teachers still focused their efforts on technique and skill building through a variety of mediums.”
Some teachers found they were able to create more projects than in the past and enhance the engagement and understanding of students, Mr. Reynolds said.
The virtual art show will include photography, ceramics and sculpture, drawing, colored pencils, computer graphics, film and fashion design.
The annual art show is usually held over two days, including the day residents go to the polls to vote on the budget and trustees candidates. However, pandemic related restrictions prevented an in-person format in each of the past two years.
This week’s virtual exhibit will showcase sensational artwork created by Huntington students on every grade level. The pieces will include the best of the best of every type of media and showcase the numerous opportunities available to students in fine and computer-generated art studies.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the district’s art program has once again enjoyed a banner year. Huntington students have captured a long list of awards in numerous contests and shows. These award winning pieces will also be on exhibit during the show.
