Summer intramurals are underway in Huntington UFSD

Several summer sports intramural programs are underway in Huntington UFSD. The intramurals are open to all students, even if they have never been a member of an interscholastic team. Attendance at all of the sessions is not required. Students can give a sport a try and see if they like it.

Finley Middle School and Huntington High School students entering grades 7-12 who are interested in fencing are invited to participate in an intramural boys’ and girls’ fencing program this summer. These school sponsored sessions will include general conditioning and training along with an opportunity to learn more about the sport of fencing. If you are thinking about trying out for the team this upcoming winter season, this intramural program is for you!

The program will run on Monday evenings from 5-7 p.m. at the Jack Abrams STEM Intermediate School gymnasium from July 12 - August 16.

Attendance at all sessions is not required. Please bring a water bottle and come dressed to condition and fence. Sweatpants, no shorts!

Boys Basketball

Huntington High School students who will be entering grades 9-12 are invited to participate in an intramural basketball program. These school sponsored sessions will include general conditioning and training along with an opportunity to learn more about the sport of basketball.

The program will run Monday through Thursday from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at either Huntington High School or Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School throughout the summer. Effective July 14 the sessions will be at the STEM school. Attendance at all sessions is not required. Participate when it is convenient.

Girls’ Basketball

Huntington High School and J. Taylor Finley Middle School students who will be enrolled in grades 7-12 this coming year are invited to participate in an intramural basketball program. These school sponsored sessions will include general conditioning and training along with an opportunity to learn more about the sport of basketball.

The program will run from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. at the Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School gym on the following Wednesdays: July 14, July 21 and July 28.  Attendance at all sessions is not required. Participate when it is convenient.

Boys and Girls Track & Field

Huntington High School students entering grades 9-12 are invited to participate in an intramural boys’ and girls’ track and field and cross country program. These school sponsored sessions will include general conditioning and training along with an opportunity to learn more about running and field events. If you are interested in track and field or cross country, this intramural program is for you.

The program will run on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 5-7 p.m. at Blue Devil Stadium throughout the summer.

Attendance at all sessions is not required. Participate when it is convenient. Explore a variety of running and field events as individual interest dictates.

In case of inclement weather that day’s intramural session is cancelled.

Football

Huntington High School students entering grades 9-12 are invited to participate in an intramural football program. These school sponsored sessions will include general conditioning and training along with an opportunity to learn more about the sport of football.

The program will run Monday through Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Blue Devil Stadium and the Huntington High School gym area throughout the summer.

Attendance at all sessions is not required. Participate when it is convenient. Explore offensive, defensive and special team skills as individual interest dictates.

In case of inclement weather that day’s intramural session might be held in the gym or cancelled.

Boys Lacrosse

Huntington High School students entering grades 9-12 are invited to participate in an intramural lacrosse program. These school sponsored sessions will include general conditioning and training along with an opportunity to learn more about the sport of lacrosse.

The program will run Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Huntington High School on either the grass or turf field through July 29.

Attendance at all sessions is not required. Participate when it is convenient. Explore offensive, defensive and special skills as individual interest dictates.

In case of inclement weather that day’s intramural session might be cancelled.
