Et Cetera is Huntington High School’s annual literary magazine. It offers an opportunity to publish a variety of written work from poetry, short stories and essays to longer pieces of fiction and non-fiction. It’s also a forum for artists to have their work showcased throughout the pages of the publication.

Naysa Escobar serves as this year’s Et Cetera club president. Members include Sasah Koulakova, Anna Koulakova, Annalise Schettino, Annika Galvin, Delia Caruso, Fiona Brosnan, Keith Fives, Linnea Wong, Molly Heffernan, Sarah Berry, Gavin Lefebvre, Genesis Acevedo, James Kretschmer, Jeffrey Gudiel and Serenity Rivera. English teacher Dianna Cazzolino serves as the club’s faculty advisor.

“We support each other’s work, either through writing peer critiques, workshops like our 10 minute prompts or hearing each other’s creations in order to enhance the outcome,” Ms. Escobar said. “This club is not like any other. This is a place where you let your mind run free and explore new barriers by creating stories or in my case artwork, that come to life. It’s a place where you will never get judged and are encouraged to be you.”

Mrs. Cazzolino began her career in Huntington in September 2011. She obtained a BA degree in English at Adelphi University in 2010 and a master’s degree in second education at Adelphi in January 2011. She also holds an Advanced Certificate for Educational Leadership from Stony Brook University. She completed her student teaching requirements at Garden City Middle School and Island Trees High School. She worked as a leave replacement English teacher at Long Beach High School in 2011.

“What you hold in your hands is very special,” said Ann Glackin, senior editor of the 2016 edition. “It took many hours of hard work to create, but that is not why I find this to be so precious. This is precious because so many people have poured their very soul into the writing in this magazine. Poems and stories are the most significant expressions of emotion and these expressions are far from easy to share. An extreme amount of trust and bravery comes in being able to share your deepest thoughts and I’m so honored that so many amazing writers took the plunge and trusted me and Ms. Cazzolino to present them right. I'm overwhelmed with the specialness of it all.”

“Not only is Et Cetera filled with passionate people, but it is also filled with people who are supportive, caring, kind and so much more,” wrote Jesse Stickell, the senior editor and treasurer of the 2017 edition of the publication. “Whenever we’re not talking about writing, we always seem to have a fantastic time with each other! We’re like a family because we joke around about mostly anything and have a good laugh together! Et Cetera is an amazing club.”
