The Huntington School District is accepting applications for its 2021/22 universal pre-kindergarten program, which will once again be held in collaboration with SCOPE. The deadline to submit an application is Friday, April 9.
The program is open to Huntington School District residents who will be four years old by December 1, 2021. The program will follow the district’s school calendar. Half-day classes will meet for 2½ hours per day. Depending on interest, an extended day section may be available.
A total of 124 seats split between morning and afternoon sessions are anticipated. Classes will be held at Flower Hill Primary School, Jefferson Primary School, Southdown Primary School and Washington Primary School. Transportation will be available.
Student placement at individual buildings will be dependent on specific registration numbers and school attendance zones. If necessary, a lottery will be held on Wednesday, April 14. Registration for the program will follow the lottery and parent notifications. Residency documentation will be required during the registration process.
SCOPE will hold a virtual UPK informational meeting for parents and guardians on March 22, 2021. Call (631) 673-2073 to register.
While applicants for half-day can indicate a preference for morning or afternoon sessions, there are a limited number of seats in each building and it might not be possible to honor all such requests.
