February 11, 2021

The Huntington School Board has adopted a proposed district calendar for the 2021/22 school year. Trustees voted unanimously at their February 8 public meeting to approve the plan, which will have school begin on Thursday, September 9 and finish on Friday, June 24, 2022.

Teachers and staff are required to be in their respective building for meetings on Wednesday and Thursday, September 1-2. There will be 180 days of instruction with three other days set aside for faculty conferences. One contingency day is also built into the plan to address possible school closings due to weather or other emergencies.

Classes will not be held on September 16 (Yom Kippur), October 11 (Columbus Day), November 2 (Election Day/Superintendent’s Conference Day), November 11 (Veterans Day), November 25-26 (Thanksgiving recess), December 24-January 1 (winter recess), January 17 (Martin Luther King Day), February 21-25 (mid-winter recess), April 15-22 (spring recess), May 3 (Eid al-Fitr), May 30 (Memorial Day) and June 20 (Juneteenth).

Should there be an emergency related closure during the school year, classes will be in session on May 3.

A copy of the 2021/22 calendar is posted on the district’s website at www.hufsd.edu. Go to the Quick Clicks function on the top right of homepage and go to General Interest on the dropdown menu and select District Directory/Calendar. Scroll down to School Calendars.
