Washington School celebrated STEAM Week.

Washington Primary School students need little reason to get excited or celebrate, but they had a good one nonetheless when Principal Michelle Richards combined STEAM Week with Spirit Week.

Teachers and students engaged in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics activities every day for a full week. When the youngsters went home, they even participated in various STEAM activities with their families.

“Monday was the kickoff to STEAM Week,” Dr. Richards said. “We celebrated with Washington Spirit Day and coding activities. Students and their families explored coding activities on https://www.kodable.com/hour-of-code. Tuesday was Maker Extravaganza Night. Students received a bag of Maker Space materials to create new inventions and shared their creations via flipgrid on https://flipgrid.com/cf65a730. Code on Clever Day was Wednesday where students used an algorithm to mix up a wacky outfit. With their families, students engaged in coding activities on the clever platform and code.org. Washington took a virtual trip on Thursday as we wore our favorite animal print or safari attire. The week ended with a Night Sky Scavenger Hunt. Students used the constellation app to take photos of the night’s sky an identify different constellations.”

The Washington youngsters just couldn’t get enough of all the learning. “It was a fun-filled week,” Dr. Richards said.
