The Flower Hill Primary School community always rallies to a good cause. Flower Hill has long supported Tri-CYA/Family Service League’s Project TOY and contributed to its success.

Project TOY (Treasures Our Youth) gives parents of struggling families an opportunity to choose two new unwrapped gifts for their children. The annual holiday boutique at the Tri-CYA facility is a time of utter joy for parents, who are excited to be able to provide their children with toys that they otherwise couldn’t afford.

“This year was like no other and the community came together and donated over three large containers of unwrapped toys and gift cards so that parents in need would have the opportunity to choose two new unwrapped toys and gifts,” Flower Hill Principal Lucia Laguarda said.

Students really felt good about participating in the initiative and the idea of helping those in need resonated with them.

A group of third graders were so excited they marched to the front lobby were they were greeted by social worker Gisselle Soto, who helped coordinate the initiative. The youngsters showed off with a few of the donated toys. The entire Flower Hill community learned more about the joy of giving by supporting this year’s Project TOY program.

Hundreds of families rely on Project TOY to help them provide a happy holiday for their sons and daughters. The need have never been greater.
