Sarah Giarraputo is ready for the rigors of pursuing a degree in psychology at Syracuse University. The teenager was a sensational student at Huntington High School, where she graduated last June as one of the top members of the Class of 2021.
A National Honor Society member, Ms. Giarraputo was recognized as a Distinguished Senior after compiling an academic average of better than a 90 during every semester of high school.
The new Huntington alum said she owes her success to remaining focused on her grades and consistently reminding herself of the need to concentrate of her short term goals in order to be in a position to achieve her long term goals.
Ms. Giarraputo said the “strong relationships” she developed with her Huntington teachers always allowed her to effectively communicate with them whenever she needed assistance.
Participating in the club program and attending school events and sports games produced many wonderful experiences for the teenager. Ms. Giarraputo said the volunteer work she was able to perform with high school clubs were “special moments” that she will always treasure.
Serving as president of Natural Helpers and secretary of AWOD – A World of Difference, traveling with the high school’s Habitat for Humanity chapter to New Orleans to rebuild housing destroyed by a hurricane strike, volunteering at Safe Halloween and building class floats for the Homecoming Day parade have been highlights of Ms. Giarraputo’s Huntington experience.
As she prepares to settle in on the Syracuse University campus, Ms. Giarraputo is sure to embrace all the new challenges and opportunities that come with college life as she wins over a new set of admirers.
