The Huntington High School field hockey program has high hopes for success this fall. The Blue Devils will begin practicing on Monday, August 23 at 8 a.m. on the turf field.

Varsity coaches Kathy Wright and Allison Conlon and junior varsity coach Ellyn Byrnes are inviting incoming high school students in grades 9-12 to join the team. Previous experience is not necessary.

Rising juniors Grace Agrillo (All-County Honorable Mention), Tessie Maerz (All-Division) and Gemma Cartwright (All-Classification) will lead Huntington into battle this fall.

The Blue Devils are also returning incoming juniors Grace Allen, Laurel Bonn, Laura Curtin, Kaci McDonald, Erin Scanlon and Stephanie Wickey and rising senior Lauren Holly.

The JV and varsity teams will scrimmage at Bay Shore on August 30. The first game of the season will follow on September 2 at West Islip. There are 16 regular season games scheduled through October 21. The Blue Devils hope to qualify for the playoffs.

“We welcome everyone to join our program and the Huntington field hockey family,” Coach Wright said. “We have a really wonderful group of young woman who have been working hard this summer, preparing for the season and having fun. Everyone is invited to join us.”
