Even in the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic, Southdown Primary School students continue to shine. Principal Scott Oshrin recently announced the names of March Stars of the Month Award recipients and it is a sensational group of boys and girls.
The ongoing pandemic prevented Southdown from holding its traditional Splash Assembly in the school gym. Instead, Mr. Oshrin and faculty members utilized a virtual format that allowed for students in school and at home on remote learning to view the event.
The Splash Assembly draws its name from Southdown’s mascot; a dolphin, which is well known for using its fin to splash water onto anyone nearby. The Stars of the Month Award is coveted around the building and received with pride by students who are recognized for their all-around effort in and out of the classroom.
March’s Splash Award recipients include:
Universal Pre-Kindergarten: Hasana Bennett; Kindergarten: Nicole Johnson, Valentina Evans, Sailor Helm, Brianna Alvarez Tevez; First Grade: Chris Estevez, Mason Wright, Taylor McAleavey, Nolan Monge, Iris Lopez Torres; Second Grade: Brandon Manzanares Rivas, Amora Ingram, Alexia Reyes Avilia, Jeffery Gregorio Ramirez; Third Grade: Brady Oliva, Angely Ulloa Gonzales, Quinn Robertson
Southdown social worker Linda Kohan was March’s staff award winner. She has helped plan many important school events that have proved to be valuable and fun for students and families.
