Cassidy Casabona is a happy young woman who is in the midst of a fabulous run through Huntington High School where the teenager is a junior this year. She is an integral member of some many important groups around the building from Natural Helpers to the student newspaper.

“I’m really excited to take Advanced Placement Statistics this year with Mrs. [Lynn] Hendricks,” Ms. Casabona said. “I’ve always loved math and I have been really looking forward to taking this class and analyzing data. I’m also looking forward to working with Mr. [Kenneth] Donovan in AP US History because I know that his class is more discussion based, so I am excited to learn in a different environment.”

Ms. Casabona is a very involved student who is involved in many different organizations around the high school building. She is a remarkably talented young woman who has earned excellent grades and assumed leadership roles.

“I’m the treasurer for the Class of 2022 and I hope we are able to do some of our usual activities like building the homecoming float,” Ms. Casabona said. “I can’t wait to go back to school to participate in Key Club, AWOD, Grandfriends, The Dispatch and chamber orchestra, too.”

A member of the French Honor Society, English Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society, Ms. Casabona is excited to get involved in the activities of those organizations. “I also hope that the volleyball season will be able to start this year because I am really looking forward to getting back on the court and playing with all of my teammates,” she said.

The junior is really a kind and considerate soul who genuinely cares about others, even those in a faraway land that she doesn’t know personally. She just wants to make life better for everyone, especially those who are struggling.

“A few months ago during quarantine, I started a charity called Stepping Stones for Kids, to help kids in the Philippines by providing them with school supplies and toys,” Ms. Casabona said. “My mom grew up in the Philippines, so when I visited the country as a little girl I always knew that I wanted to be able to help the kids living in the provinces there since they don’t have the same opportunities that most kids have here. So far we have been able to give bags of schools supplies, toys and food to several kids, including a group of children that were forced to move to an evacuation center because of a fire that spread through their neighborhood. In the next few months, I hope to expand this charity and help more children in the Philippines.”

Ms. Casabona would like to attend college on the East Coast, preferably in New York City. “Right now I’m interested in studying in the East Coast, preferably in the city,” she said. “My dream college is Columbia University, but I’m also interested in NYU and am still searching for other schools that would be a great fit for me. I’ve always been intrigued by law, so I might eventually attend law school. I’m also looking into careers in the business industry.”
