This is a big year for Emily Geller and the Huntington High School junior can’t wait to get started in earnest. She’s a great student and very active in the extracurricular and athletic programs.
“This year I am especially excited to take Advanced Placement US History with Mr. [Kenneth] Donovan,” Ms. Geller said. “I always loved history and I’m excited to expand my knowledge about the history of our country. I am also very excited to continue my studies in Spanish for my twelfth year as I was part of the dual language program. This year I am taking AP Spanish Language and Culture with Sra. [Mercedes] Pena, which is going to be challenging, yet interesting.”
Over the summer, Ms. Geller completed a pair of pre-college programs offered by the University of Pennsylvania and Georgetown University. “Both of the programs were focused on American law and government, which I am very interested in,” she said.
Ms. Geller also spent time interning at the law firm owned by Huntington School Board member Xavier Palacios. It marked the second consecutive summer she has interned there and she enjoyed the work and atmosphere around the office.
“As a junior, I am planning on taking more of a leadership role in the Huntington mock trial program,” Ms. Geller said. “This will be my third year in the program and I cannot wait to see how our season will turn out as we will most likely be virtual. I am also planning on playing both tennis and lacrosse.”
Ms. Geller hopes to engage in pre-law undergraduate studies at Georgetown University, New York University or the University of Virginia and ultimately pursue a law degree.
