It’s been a beautiful fall so far, with above average temperatures and the Woodhull Intermediate School community is taking advantage of the gorgeous weather.

“Students and teachers have been enjoying this lovely weather and our outdoor spaces at Woodhull this fall,” Principal Lara Gonzalez said. “Mrs. [Priya] Mondkar and Mr. [Scott] Armyn’s English Language Arts classes have been spreading some words of wisdom.”

Woodhull students created “kindness rocks” to be placed around the building. “Students will place their painted rocks throughout the grounds to brighten everyone’s day,” Dr. Gonzalez said. “Recently Ms. [Laurie] Jovans’ class visited the courtyard and pond in hopes of collecting bugs to feed to their classroom geckos.”

Getting students outdoors for educational, fun and worthwhile pursuits is a Woodhull tradition and has been ongoing since the building first opened in late January 1967.

“The Woodhull PTA is partnering with our school to find creative ways to continue to spruce up the outdoor areas,” Dr. Gonzalez said. “Anyone interested in supporting our beautification efforts may contact the Woodhull PTA at Woodhullpta@gmail.com.”

The Woodhull PTA’s executive board includes Kathleen Camarata (president), Melissa Anderson (vice president), Vicky Johnson (recording secretary), Leah Bianco (corresponding secretary) and Shannen Delaney (treasurer) and PTA Council delegates Fidelia Zivkovic and Jennifer Carrillo.
