When someone is kind it never goes unnoticed. People always remember those who are nice to them; who display a basic level of kindness. It is never forgotten.
Kindness works both ways. It has value for everyone. It makes the giver and receiver both feel good. If everyone displayed kindness the world would be a much better place.
Flower Hill Primary School students are learning how “choosing kind” is important. The youngsters have been hearing that “when given a choice between being right or being kind, choose kind.”
It might be a difficult concept for a children to understand, but teachers and support staff members are working hard to make it easy to comprehend. “We discuss what this looks like and how we choose kind every day,” Principal Lucia Laguarda said.
Flower Hill celebrated World Kindness Day last Friday. It annually promotes the importance of being kind to friends, family, co-workers, classmates and everyone else we cross paths with on any given day. “It’s purpose is to help all of us understand that compassion for others is what binds us all together,” Ms. Laguarda said.
The Flower Hill school community showed its unity on World Kindness Day by wearing yellow. “It is a sunshiny, warm color even on a rainy, dark day,” Ms. Laguarda said. “All of us at Flower Hill practiced acts of kindness. We are dedicated to spreading kindness and positivity. We can do this in little ways, by complimenting each other or giving air hugs. We can do it on other ways by helping someone in need or writing a note to someone to thank them or cheer them up. Together, we can spread kindness like confetti.”
