It’s a monthly tradition that not even the COVID-19 pandemic can stop. Southdown Primary School’s students, faculty and staff fill the gymnasium once a month for a Splash Assembly to recognize outstanding students and convey important lessons on carefully selected topics.
The assemblies are celebratory in nature. Principal Scott Oshrin likes it that way and so do Southdown’s teachers. They want students to associate working hard, doing the “right thing” and helping others with having fun. They also want to recognize youngsters who deserve it.
So although schools are currently closed and teachers and students are engaged in distance learning, Southdown used “virtual” means to hold its most recent Splash Assembly. And why not? The school’s mission is continuing unabated.
