This year’s Huntington High School senior prom is shaping up to be an incredible event. Planning is well underway for the evening. Tickets will go on sale in May.
Unlike previous years, the 2020 event will be a stand-alone senior prom, rather than a combined junior-senior prom. A separate catered banquet at the school is planned for members of the junior class.
The senior prom is set for Thursday, June 25 at the brand new Water’s Edge in Centerport. The site previously featured the Thatched Cottage for decades.
Senior class faculty advisors Paige Furman and Kristin Fortunato are working with Class of 2020 officers to plan the event. Fundraising is expected to reduce ticket prices.
The menu will be simply delectable. There will be five different types of passed hors d’oeuvres. A cheese and crudité station that will include puff pastry baked brie, Jarlsberg, Gouda, Manchego, Havarti, double Windsor cheddar and Stilton, French breads, bread sticks, bruschetta, soft pretzels, fig jam and an assorted of glazed nuts.
There will be farm fresh vegetables and spreads, including grilled eggplant, yellow squash, zucchini, red and yellow peppers, Portobello mushrooms, asparagus, artichoke salad and marinated mushroom salad.
A taco and guacamole bar will feature beef and chicken. There will be a mashed potato bar that includes Yukon gold, sweet and purple potato, braised short rib, bacon, BBQ brisket, pulled pork, brown sugar, sour cream, diced tomato, candied pecans, fried onions, marshmallows, cheddar and blue cheeses.
An Italian station will feature penne ala Vodka, eggplant rollatini, chicken Francaise or Marsala, farfalle primavera with garlic and oil and orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sweet Italian sausage.
There will be a Belgian waffle station for dessert, complete with French vanilla ice cream and whipped cream, strawberry and blueberry toppings and caramel and chocolate sauces.
The prom will run from 6-10 p.m.
