Founded in 1934, the Huntington High School Blue Devil marching band is already preparing for next fall’s competitive season. The band has announced dates for its two summer camps in August.

The current school year’s band includes about 125 musicians and color guard members. Band officials hope dozens of newcomers join the fold to replace departing seniors so the Blue Devils can remain one of the top marching bands in the state.

The band has announced that its training camp will run from Monday, August 17 through Thursday, August 20 with daily sessions running from 1-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m.

The full-day, weeklong band camp is set for Monday, August 24 through Sunday, August 30 with daily sessions from 9 a.m.-12 noon, 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.

The band marches in several parades, including on Homecoming Day, performs at halftime of the varsity football team’s home games and at the high school’s fall pep rally and participates in weekly competitions around the metropolitan area culminating at the state championships at Syracuse in late October.
