Andrew Knowles has been named valedictorian of Huntington High School’s Class of 2020. Julien Rentsch is this year’s salutatorian. The remarkable duo has enjoyed sensational four year runs packed with academic and co-curricular success.

Mr. Knowles and Mr. Rentsch will each give addresses at Huntington’s 159^th commencement exercises on Friday, June 28 at 6 p.m. in Blue Devil Stadium. A crowd of more than 2,000 is expected to attend.

“I could not be prouder of these two fine young men, who are representative of an outstanding group of young people comprising Huntington High School’s Class of 2020,” Superintendent James W. Polansky said. “Andrew and Julien have taken full advantage of the academic and extracurricular opportunities presented to them through the years. They have essentially left everything they have touched in a better place than when they found it. They are genuine ambassadors to their school and community and should take considerable pride in the legacies they will leave. Fantastic things lie ahead for this incredible pair.”

Huntington’s top two seniors have captured the affection and respect of their classmates and teachers and excelled in every way possible. Their transcripts are filled with the most challenging Advanced Placement courses that Huntington offers.

“Both Andrew and Julien are truly outstanding young men and exceptional students,” Principal Brenden Cusack. “It has been such a pleasure to see them progress in their studies over the years and share their talents with us at Huntington High School. I am so proud of them and it’s wonderful to see that their hard work has paid off. I am sure they will both be going on to great things in the years to come and that they will continue to shine.”

Mr. Knowles plans to continue his education at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Mr. Rentsch will be attending Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
