Washington Primary School students are in the midst of a splendid year. They are going about their business around the building with enthusiasm and determination. It’s a great group of youngsters spread across kindergarten through third grade.

Washington Principal Michelle Richards recently took to the school’s airwaves to announce January’s Washington Ways Award recipients along with February’s Featured Artists of the Month.

Here’s how the Washington Ways program works:

White tickets are awarded weekly for good behaviors and actions in the classroom. White ticket winners are honored with special recognition in their classroom at the end of each week and their names are announced every Monday morning.

Red tickets are presented to individuals for notable good behavior outside of classrooms, including in hallways, buses, the playground and cafeteria, etc. At the end of the month, the student in each class with the greatest number of red tickets is recognized with a special certificate.

Entire classes can earn blue tickets for positive group behavior out-of-the-classroom. Blue tickets are also awarded to the two classes within the building with the most tickets overall.

January’s Washington Ways Award recipients include:

Hillary Lopez Lima, Joshua Ziman, Fernando Moreira, Carmella Booker, Chloe Foulke-Hudson, Samantha Graber, Genesis Benites Davila, Pedro Granados Ramirez, Isabella Castillo, Gabriella Mejia, Camila Luna Mancia, Ashley Avalos Cedillos, Abigail Arelt, Annie Lopez-Berrios, Yostin Vanegas, Claire Carmody and Andy Bonilla.

The entire class of teachers Lauren Soskil and Melissa Studdert were honored as January’s Blue Ticket Award winners.
