Sarah Krisch is an exceptionally talented young woman. The Huntington High School sophomore is gifted academically, athletically and artistically. She recently snapped a spectacular photograph that even has her teacher gushing with praise.
Ms. Krisch has long been a standout. Her talents began emerging shortly after she started kindergarten at Washington Primary School and she continues to impress and amaze her classmates, teammates and Huntington’s faculty members.
The sophomore took a gorgeous photo of her friend, Kate Balm at Meyer’s Farm Stand in Woodbury. “I love this picture because the light was coming through the trees behind Kate, which made the setting look especially pleasant,” Ms. Krisch said. “The field of sunflowers also made the shoot interesting because we had a fun time finding our way through it. The purpose of the shoot itself was for a photography class assignment that focused on the Rule of Thirds. The goal was to compose the photos in a way that the subject was in a specific part of the frame and viewers would be directly drawn to look at them.”
Ms. Krisch used a Canon Rebel XTi camera for the photo shoot. “Ever since I was young, I have enjoyed taking photos,” she said. “Last year was when my dad gave me a high quality camera, so I actually began taking photos in my free time and found a passion for capturing moments in nature and of my friends.”
The teenager is enjoying working with art teacher Pamela Piffard-Williams in the high school’s photography program.
“I was really excited to take Photography as a class this year to improve and learn more about the different features of my camera,” Ms. Krisch said. “Personally, photography has really added a calm balance to some of the stressful parts of school.”
