Aislyn Franciscovich is a creative young woman who is having fun with her courses. The Huntington High School sophomore is especially enjoying her photography class where she recently used a variety of techniques to produce a gorgeous photo for a project she worked on this past fall.
“The photo was for a ghost photoshoot for Introduction to Photography,” Ms. Franciscovich said. “The assignment was to use a slow shutter speed and take ‘phantom photos.’ Emily Gershuny and Linnea Wong were the ‘ghosts’ for it. It was a lot of fun to shoot because we could just mess around for the shoot. I’ve been taking photos since about third grade, but recently became interested in photography after I took a trip to Rome with my family.”

The teenager used a Canon Rebel T6 camera for the photoshoot, which took place in Huntington village, off 25A.
“My most interesting course this year would have to be Introduction to Photography,” Ms. Franciscovich said. “I have loved the short amount of time I’ve spent with Mrs. [Pamela] Piffard and I’m looking forward to working in the class for the rest of this year.”
The sophomore plans to be active outside of classes by participating in the Art Honor Society, women’s empowerment club and Et Cetera, the high school’s annual literary magazine.
“My closest friends are Fiona Brosnan, Linnea Wong, Emily Gershuny, Annika Galvin, Erin Purcell and Logan Toth,” Ms. Franciscovich said. “Mrs. [Kristin] Singer is the teacher who’s helped mentor me during her school. She has really stood out to me because she is so kind and helpful. She has helped me explore so many interests through extra projects in her Drawing and Painting class.”
The teenager’s advice to incoming freshmen? “Learn time management skills,” Ms. Franciscovich said. “It is difficult to keep up with the harder classes and they become even more stressful if you fall behind.”
Although she is only a sophomore, Ms. Franciscovich is currently interested in Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. “This is because I took a pre-college course there and really loved their art programs,” she said. “I want to study art and business in order to one day, hopefully, be able to run my own business.”
Right now, the teenager is striving to enjoy every day, working with her teachers, developing her interests in and out of class and socializing with her friends.
“I think that my experience at Huntington so far has been fun,” Ms. Franciscovich said. “Though it’s hard to keep up with online learning, the school is the reason I became so close with my friends.”
