The Huntington High School auditorium rocked last Saturday as step teams from around Long Island turned out for the second annual step show officially billed as “Steppin’ for a Cause.”
The event was jointly sponsored by Huntington’s step team and Tri-CYA. Among the performing teams were squads from Walt Whitman, Farmingdale State College, St. Anthony’s, Half Hollow Hills East, Central Islip and three teams from Leo F. Giblyn Elementary School in Freeport.

The Wyandanch Kappa Leaguers and the Suffolk chapter of Delta Sigma Theta performed strolling exhibitions. A captain’s dance-off was held during the judge’s deliberation. The dance-off brought all of the day’s participants onto the big stage in a wonderful display of togetherness and unity.

Huntington’s Ready . . . Step team performed at the high school’s pep rally and homecoming bonfire and marched in the Homecoming Day parade. They are also expected to perform during the Key Club’s K-Factor talent show on Friday, February 28.
“It was a great day,” Ms. Carey said. “Seeing everyone dancing together on stage even though it was a competition was awesome.”
