After winning the first game 25-12, the Huntington varsity girls’ volleyball team dropped the next three games to visiting Smithtown East by scores of 25-14, 25-20 and 25-22 to fall in the match, 3-1.

Losing two of three games by excruciatingly close scores was frustrating for the Blue Devil squad, which nevertheless walked away with its head held high and a renewed determination to make this season a special one.

In a 3-2 loss at Newfield this week, Huntington played well. Cat Jamison had 25 kills, 12 digs, a block and an assist. Maddie Reed had six kills and a pair of blocks. Shannon Kehoe had 30 assists, four digs and two kills. Kianna Criscuola tallied four kills, two assists and two digs. Izzy Toscano contributed seven digs.

Patrick Sclafani Paces Blue Devil Golfers

The Huntington varsity golf team make it two straight with a 7-2 win over John H. Glenn on Thursday. Captain Patrick Sclafani shot a two-over-38 on the front nine at Crab Meadow to lead the Blue Devils to victory.

“Today went great,” Sclafani said. “The team talked about a goal to reach before the match and we reached it. All the hard work that the team has been putting in paid off today. Hopefully we will only get better and better from here on out.”

A few days earlier, Huntington cruised past Half Hollow Hills East in the opening match of the season, 8-1.

The Blue Devils are coached by Michael Marinello.

Valerie Rogel & Ella Siepel are Captains

Huntington juniors Valerie Rogel and Ella Siepel are the Blue Devil varsity girls’ cross country team’s captains this fall. The squad is coached by high school physical education teacher Beth Vogelsang.

The roster also includes freshmen Talia Addeo and Sophie Bradford; sophomores Noelle Henderson and Erin Ye; juniors Taylor Case, Kaylee Dammers, Brianna Isaza and Anna Koulakova and senior Diya Rai-Gersappe.

H-ton JV Boys’ Soccer Impressive

The Huntington junior varsity boys’ soccer team has looked invincible in winning its first four games, all by lopsided margins. The Blue Devils are coached by Jose Alfaro.

Huntington’s roster includes freshmen Jeison Blanco, Roman Borovica, Vincent Grassi, Ian Husselbeck, Kieran Husselbeck, Christian Panameno-Delcid, Justin Perez Castillo, Enzo Pupillo and Nikolai Seferian; sophomores Elmer Aguilera Avila, Cecilio Alvarez, Cristian Avelar-Romero, Matthew Lange, Liam Lennon, Julio Martinez, Leonid Martinez Soto, Enri Reyes-Flores, Joseph Rodriquez-Valdez, Dylan Schnitzer and Henry Vohs and juniors Brenden Abedin, Joseph O’Connell, Mike-el Ollivierre and Andreas Seferian.

Blue Devil Varsity Field Hockey Captains

The Blue Devil varsity field hockey team is determined to reach post-season play this fall. The squad will be led by three captains with vast experience in the sport in Megan Byrnes, Holly Wright and Anna Wickey, who has committed to NCAA Division I Temple University to play in college.

Huntington is coached by Kathy Wright and Allison Conlon. The team will play a challenging schedule this fall, but with many experienced players, is hopeful the campaign will be a successful one.

Jasson Garay Scores Twice

The Huntington varsity boys’ team took a 1-0 lead into halftime at Newfield, but the Blue Devils were outscored in the second half and fell 3-2 in a league game.

Jasson Garay scored both of Huntington’s goals. Jahmeer Sallet and Jose Flores picked up assists. Goalie Cole Pillion made seven saves.

With the scored knotted at 2-2, Newfield scored what proved to be the winning goal with 2:13 remaining in the game. Three minutes earlier Newfield had tied the game.

Huntington JV Girls’ Soccer Rolling

The Huntington junior varsity girls’ soccer team is rolling, defeating Copiague and Riverhead in the opening two games of the season by a combined score of 17-0 before dropping a hard-fought 4-0 decision at Smithtown East on Thursday afternoon.

The Blue Devils are coached by high school physical education teacher Maria Canino. Most of the team played at J. Taylor Finley Middle School while they were in seventh and eighth grade and have years of experience on club teams.

The roster includes freshmen Sana Amin, Abagail Baade, Hope Bilkey, Ella Kamenstein, Alondra Landa Cruz, Renee McKean, Gabriella Miller, Jillian Panos and Neha Rathore; sophomores Analisse Batista, Yensi Cruz Ortiz, Makaylah Frazier, Ashley Genao, Evelyn Hernandez, Flor Lopez, Adrianna LoScalzo, Caroline O’Rourke, Zoe Sakellarios, April Swanson and Eliza Walther and junior Amanda Fuentes-Reyes.

H-ton JV Field Hockey Begins Games

The Huntington junior varsity field hockey team is led by first year head coach Claudia Maimone. The team has been diligently practicing and this week began playing games.

The roster includes eighth graders Ella O’Heir and Brooke Parks; freshmen Grace Allen, Laura Curtain, Quinn Fox, Tessie Maerz, Markella Martkotsis, Kaci McDonald, Kathryn Meagher, Rachel Morina, Abigail Pawlak, Erin Scanlon, Carlee Schultz, Leah Sheran and Stephanie Wickey and sophomores Lauren Holly, Leda Roldan, Kathryn Sanseviro, Chloe Schiman.
