Ashlyn Case’s exceptional academic record provided her with many options when it came to choosing a college. The Huntington High School senior took her time deciding where she wanted to study next and performed all the due diligence you would expect from the thoughtful teenager. She is thrilled to be heading to the University of Rhode Island next fall as she transitions to a new stage in her life.

“I’m confident in my decision to attend URI,” Ms. Case said. “The school offers so many great majors and opportunities, the campus is beautiful and the location is ideal. I’ve already met some great people and look forward to meeting more. The surrounding beach community reminded me of Huntington, so I felt very comfortable there.”

The Huntington senior said she was “very close” to attending Quinnipiac University and also considered the University of Delaware and Fairfield University, but the University of Rhode Island won out in the end.

“Originally, I wanted to study nursing, but after a lot of consideration I decided to go in a different direction,” Ms. Case said. “I’m now exploring my options and looking to possibly do something in communications. We’ll see.”

The teenager has played on the Blue Devil varsity tennis team, served as class vice president and president of the Grandfriend clubs, claimed membership in the National Honor Society and participated in a variety of events from the district art show and Relay For Life to Homecoming Weekend.

“I’m interested in getting involved in clubs and community service organizations and possibly even studying abroad,” Ms. Case said. “Getting involved was one of the best decisions I made at Huntington, so I’m really looking forward to that in college.”

The upbeat senior typically has a smile on her face and is usually surrounded by her friends. Support from those valued friends and from her family has been a key ingredient in Ms. Case’s success.

“There are so many different paths I could take, so I’m not sure what I’ll end up doing,” Ms. Case said. “I like communicating with others and I like being creative, so hopefully those are two things I can incorporate into my future career.”

Recognized last month as a Distinguished Senior, Ms. Case is on Huntington High School’s High Honor Roll. She has an enjoyed a great run through the district.

“I will always smile at the fond memories I’ve made at Huntington,” Ms. Case said. “I’m lucky to have had so many opportunities to get involved and to branch out. I am grateful to everyone who has been supportive throughout and I look forward to what’s in store for the future.”
