The 51st Blue Devil Senior Athletic Awards banquet will honor 89 Huntington High School athletes

The 51st annual Blue Devil Senior Athletic Awards banquet will be held on Thursday, May 30 in Louis D. Giani Gymnasium. The dinner will honor the 89 graduating seniors who completed participation with their respective team(s) this year.

Student-athletes will receive a framed athletic history certificate, detailing their participation by season and year. “This award highlights the athlete’s participation and honors them from grades 7-12,” said Georgia D. McCarthy, district director of health, physical education and interscholastic athletics. “Our individual team awards will also be announced, with trophies presented to the recipients.

Senior student-athletes should stop in the high school athletic office to secure their free tickets and indicate they will be attending the dinner. Additional tickets for family members may be purchased for $25 per ticket at the athletic office. Cash or checks payable to Huntington Athletics will be accepted. Tickets should be picked up by Thursday, May 23.

Several special awards will also be presented at the banquet, including memorial scholarships honoring Courtney O’Bryan, Peter Steen, John Fulton, David Caplin, Fred Cambria, Don Loughlin and William Class.

The Huntington Booster Club will award four sportsmanship scholarships at the banquet. Booster Club President Timothy Pillion will also the recipients of two scholarships funded by Kleet Lumber.
