Huntington High School boys’ lacrosse team alumni will gather on the Blue Devil Stadium turf field on Saturday, June 15 for a 1:30 p.m. game. It will mark the 36th edition of the alumni game and organizers are hoping for a large turnout of former players.
Hundreds of lax alumni have been contacted to play in the game. All former Blue Devil boys’ lacrosse players are invited to attend, regardless of year of graduation. The game will include segments based upon age group. Not interested in suiting up for the game? Don’t worry, you can just stand on the sidelines and brag about how good you were in high school.
The game was played on Mother’s Day weekend for 32 years, but was moved to Father’s Day weekend three years ago in an effort to spark more interest from alums. This year’s game will honor fallen alums Chris Casey and Jeff Indence who passed away during the past year.

Greg Kline, a 1989 Blue Devil alum is once again coordinating the game. The Huntington grads plan to present 2019 Kyle Kirst Lacrosse Alumni Awards to one current Blue Devil boys’ and girls’ team member during halftime of Saturday’s game. Once play concludes, alums will head down to Harbor Boating Club on West Shore Road for a post-game barbeque.
“This year's entry price is $60 which covers jerseys, insurance, Kyle Kirst memorial trophies for boys and girls and Harbor Boating Club BBQ and refreshments,” according to organizers. “We are also going to make a strong Blue Devil effort to raise needed monies for the Huntington High School boys and girls programs by making donations to the Huntington Booster Club. They do a great job of fulfilling the needs of our athletic programs.”
Alums are invited to stop by Finnegan’s Restaurant and Tap Room on Friday night to discuss “rides and clears.” A packed house usually turns out for the “meeting.”
