The season is underway for Huntington High School’s junior varsity boys’ and girls’ lacrosse teams. Both squads opened up the spring campaign last week and looked impressive.
Coached by Anthony Troffa and Timothy Witt, the Blue Devil boys’ JV roster features many up-and-coming talented players. Huntington defeated Longwood in the first game of the season, 17-6.
The roster includes eighth graders Anthony Annunziata, Matthew Armstrong, Sammy Mac Arner, Aidan Carrello and Michael Kline; freshmen Pablo Aparicio, Robert Eriksen, Ethan Evans, Jahiem Hawkins, Paul Knieriem, Harrison Krywak, Liam Lennon, Christopher Maichin, John Marziliano, Tyriek Mays-McKoy, Liam McDonald, Aidan McNulty, Matthew Mead, Jack O’Brien, Lucas Petrizzi, Ryan Porzio, Carl Pulizzotto, Joseph Sclafani and Brian Sosnowski; and sophomores Harrison Cozine, Logan Deegan, Jack Giamo, Noah Hopson, Joseph O’Connell, Steve Queen and Rashiem Sexton.
“We are starting to look really good this season,” Chris Maichin said. “After week one, we shook off all of the rust and we are really coming together as a team. There’s unbelievable energy from everyone on the team and it shows at every practice. The whole team has been working really hard and am sure it will pay off.”
The Blue Devils will play a schedule of 16 games, including 14 league contests. The team has games with Middle Country and Ward Melville this week and will play Brentwood and Copiague next week and then Riverhead, Sachem East and Half Hollow Hills West the following week.
