Freshman Robbie Smith scored five goals and added an assist to lead the Huntington High School varsity boys’ lacrosse team to a 17-1 victory over visiting Longwood.
Smith was unstoppable as he helped the Blue Devils build a 7-0 first period lead and a 12-0 halftime advantage. Huntington went on to outscore the visiting Lions in the second half, 5-1.

The Blue Devils offensive explosion was impressive and it brought a smile to the face of second year head coach Julian Watts. Senior Pat Durand had two goals and two assists. Junior Billy Burton scored twice and added an assist. Sophomore Liam Hassett and junior Cole Pillion both also tallied two goals each. Pillion also notched an assist.
On the first day of spring, Huntington was simply sensational and a crowd of 250 roared with each goal the Blue Devils scored. Sam Kimmelman, Jon Koumas, Luke Luckow and Ethan Mcguinness all found the back of the net. Nick Mattio had three assists.
While Huntington’s scorers were prolific, the Blue Devil goalie tandem of Aedan McDonald and Alex Fascilla was also magnificent. McDonald started the game and stopped five shots. Fascilla came on to record six saves.
“We have been working hard all year, including doing a lot in the off-season and we were able to put it all together,” McDonald said. “The offense finished on opportunities and the defense was working well. There are still things we can improve on and we will continue to work hard.”
The Blue Devil roster also includes sophomores Torin Bograd, Aidan Bonn, Jack Krisch and Trevan Meagher; juniors Dan Danziger, Renato Erek, Pat Langton, Charlie O’Rourke, Tazadon Smith, Matt Stolfa, Michael Wright and Matt Youngwall; and seniors Bryce Criscuola, James Duffy, Anthony Martin, Jordan McCoy, Jackson Pitti, Steve Scafordi and John Tucker.
