Huntington girls' winter track honorees and coaches at the Suffolk All-County banquet.

Huntington High School’s track and field stars were honored at the recent Suffolk Coaches Assn. dinner at Villa Lombardi’s in Holbrook.

Blue Devil boys’ head coach Ronald Wilson captured the Suffolk large school Coach of the Year Award after guiding Huntington to the county team championship this winter.

The athletes and their parents feasted on a meal consisting of tossed salad, chicken parmigiana over pasta, dinner rolls and a dessert of cake.

Senior Johnathan Smith won one of just five Outstanding Athlete Awards after turning in a fabulous season that saw him notch times that ranked the teenager among the best in the state and nation in multiple events.

Four Blue Devil girls were recognized as All-County after winning the 4x200m relay. Alicia Brooks, Analisse Batista, Dejanae Linton and Olivia Conte were all honored. Batista also won All-County honors in the 300m dash after finishing second in Suffolk. Keily Rivas picked up an All-County award in the 1500m race-walk.

Huntington girls’ head coach Mark Jackson and assistant coach Eddie Santos were on hand to share in the festivities with their star athletes.

A dozen Blue Devil boys’ team members were feted as All-County athletes. Huntington’s 4x200m relay consisting of Smith, Josiah Melendez, Jason Turner, Anthony Joseph and Nasir Youngblood were recognized as All-Suffolk. The 4x400m relay consisting of Smith, Isaiah James, Justin Stevens, CJ Kiviat and Jahmar Francis were also honored as All-County.

Eric Sands and Gary Barash both garnered All-County awards in weight throw. Jaden Bholan captured All-County recognition in high jump. Smith, Kiviat and James were all also All-County in the 600m run.

“These young men and women are blessed with so much talent,” Wilson said. “They have represented our school and community very well.”
