Cameron Fehrs is an exceptional young woman. Anyone who has spent time with her understands this and finds it easy to conclude the recent Huntington High School graduate is headed for success at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, where she plans to study business.

The teenager has been a standout among the many talented seniors that comprised Huntington’s Class of 2019. Ms. Fehrs has played on the Blue Devil varsity tennis team for four years and she completed a year-long internship with high school athletic trainer Kelly Hatzmann.

Ms. Fehrs plans to study for a doctor of physical therapy at Sacred Heart, which boasts one of the finest PT programs in New England. She’s interested in starting her own PT practice or working in a hospital setting following her college graduation.

The Huntington Foundation for Excellence in Education took note of this remarkable young woman and awarded her a $2,500 scholarship in recognition of her past achievements and exceptional potential moving forward.

“I’m so grateful that I was chosen for the HFEE scholarship award,” Ms. Fehrs said. “It was very unexpected. I’m happy I was even considered for it. I couldn’t have done it without the support of my family and teachers.”

Huntington Foundation President Alice Marie Rorke and Chief Financial Officer Debbie Knowles formally presented the scholarship to Ms. Fehrs during the high school’s senior academic awards ceremony earlier this month.

Ms. Fehrs has traveled internationally and participated in Huntington High School’s club program. She credits her success to the support she has been given by her family, friends and teachers. The senior prides herself on staying organized and seeking out help when she needs it.

A member of Huntington’s Science Honor Society and English Honor Society chapters, Ms. Fehrs considered the University of Delaware and Stony Brook University, but found Sacred Heart’s program, size and distance from home to be perfect.
