Andrew Napurano is in his final semester at Stony Brook University as the Huntington High School Class of 2015 member closes in on an undergraduate degree in business and finance.

The Huntington alum is on a great run studying in Stony Brook’s School of Business. He has earned a spot on the college’s Dean’s List and garnered a perfect 4.0 grade point average last semester.

Mr. Napurano will be awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration along with a specialization in finance at Stony Brook’s May commencement exercises. His course work has included Business Calculus, Applied Statistics and Economic Theory, Business Strategy, Financial Accounting, Marketing Research, Financial Management, Financial Engineering, Investment Analysis, Management and Operations, Principles of Finance, Applied Mathematics in Technology and Business Communications.

The Huntington grad recently received certification in the use of the Microsoft Excel software program and he has learned many advanced computer skills, including VBA, IBM SPSS; VLOOKUP’s, statistical and financial functions, pivot tables and pivot charts to name a few.

During the summer vacation, Mr. Napurano worked at Coastline Pools and Spas where he recently completed a required Stony Brook School of Business internship as a financial analyst. He compiled a forecast for $8,000,000 in future company sales by discounting cash flows and creating applicable financial models. He also utilized Microsoft Excel to analyze historical data from QuickBooks to create detailed financial analyses.

During his time at Stony Brook University, Mr. Napurano has been an active board member of Lambda Chi fraternity, acting as social chair and recruitment coordinator. He has also been training in jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts and has earned promotion to blue belt.

Mr. Napurano’s post-graduation plans include pursuing a career as a financial analyst. “I have a passion for this career because I enjoy building financial models, doing extensive quantitative research, studying microeconomic trends with the economy and making my own unique recommendations to senior management on how to increase productivity, as well as make valuable investments,” he said. He hopes to go on to study for a master’s degree in finance.

At Huntington High School, Mr. Napurano was a pitcher with the Blue Devil baseball team. He won a second place award in the high school’s National History Day competition for his historical paper on the Industrial Revolution and advanced to the Long Island regional finals at Hofstra University. He played trumpet in the band since fourth grade.

The alum is hoping to return soon to his alma mater for a visit and to meet with current business students about his experiences.
