Madison Buchholtz has danced her way into everyone’s heart at Huntington High School. The senior is an exceptionally talented ballerina as well as being a top student and a valued friend.
The teenager began her formal studies in a kindergarten classroom at Jefferson Primary School. Since then Ms. Buchholtz has been a standout in every possible way and is regarded as one of the shining stars of Huntington’s Class of 2019.

Ms. Buchholtz’s closest friends include Maire Brown, Mia Breitbarth, Brooke Goldsmith and Danielle Lamarco. “Madison is one of those people who can always make you laugh,” Ms. Breitbarth said. “She’s one of my best friends and I admire her so much for her dedication to ballet while also balancing high school and everything else.”
A member of Huntington’s National Honor Society and English Honor Society chapters, Ms. Buchholtz also belongs to the National Society of High School Scholars. She has regularly earned a spot on Huntington’s High Honor Roll.
Ms. Buchholtz assistant teaches four classes a week at Ballet Academy East. “I was the ballet mistress for the mice and angels roles in Long Island Ballet Theater’s production of the Nutcracker and I was featured in a music video dancing contemporary ballet,” she said.
The senior’s favorite teachers have been Paige Tyree Furman, Camille Tedeschi, Steven Kroll and Dianna Cazzalino.
“Madison is a smart, responsible and hardworking student,” Ms. Tedeschi said. “I taught her in many classes and she was always a star student. Her personality is laid back and she always works to achieve her goals. I had a great time being her teacher in all of the courses, but in Participation in Government I got to see how self-motivated and creative Madison truly is. She has been as asset to all of the classes I taught her in. I will miss her greatly this semester and next year, but I’m excited to see all of the greatness she will continue to achieve as she leaves Huntington High School to enter the real world.”
The teenager’s college possibilities include Indiana University, New York University, Johns Hopkins and Penn State. “Some of my goals are to become a professional dancer while I would also enjoy studying business/communications in college,” Ms. Buchholtz said.
Ms. Buchholtz is a remarkably articulate young women, brimming with energy and ideas. Her friends turn to her for advice and comfort. Teachers respect and admire her.
“I have had an amazing and humbling experience in Huntington’s schools,” Ms. Buchholtz said. “I feel so lucky to be in a district that has accommodated me and all students. Huntington High School, the staff and the friends I have made feel like such a close community and family. The high school has given me so many opportunities and I have been able to explore many different paths with all the classes it offers.”
