January 16, 2019

The Huntington School Board has adopted a proposed district calendar for the 2019/20 school year. Trustees voted unanimously at their January 7 public meeting to approve the plan, which will have school begin on Wednesday, September 4 and finish on Friday, June 26, 2020.

Teachers and staff are required to be in their respective building for meetings on Tuesday, September 3, with students starting classes the following day. There will be 181 days of instruction with two other days set aside for faculty conferences. Two contingency days are also built into the plan to address possible school closings due to snow or other emergencies.

Schools will be closed on September 30/October 1 (Rosh Hashanah), October 9 (Yom Kippur), October 14 (Columbus Day), November 5 (Election Day/Superintendent’s Conference Day), November 11 (Veterans Day), November 28-29 (Thanksgiving recess), December 23-January 1 (Winter recess), January 20 (Martin Luther King Day), February 17-21 (mid-winter recess), April 9-17 (Spring recess) and May 25 (Memorial Day). There are no days off in March or June.

If there are no weather related closures, May 22 and May 26 will be converted to vacation days. If school is closed due to a weather emergency, classes will be held on May 26. If a second closure is required, classes will also be held on May 22.

A copy of the 2019/20 calendar is posted on the district’s website at www.hufsd.edu. Go to the Quick Clicks on the top right of homepage and go to General Interest on the dropdown menu and select District Directory/Calendar. Scroll down to School Calendars.
