Brooke Goldsmith’s senior year at Huntington High School is off to a smooth start. She’s completely engaged in her classes and the activities she holds dear. The teenager is determined to graduate on a high note.
Ms. Goldsmith is playing on the Blue Devil varsity field hockey team and plans to participate in the high school’s Habitat for Humanity chapter and Natural Helpers program, in which students assist each other with personal issues.

The senior’s academic schedule includes classes in multicultural literature, Holocaust literature, advanced algebra, forensics, economics, participation in government and career and financial management.
Ms. Goldsmith is very popular with her classmates and teammates. She’s a remarkably loyal friend who is always ready to help. The teenager’s closest friends are Maire Brown, Mia Breitbarth, Madison Buchholtz and Danielle Lamarco.
“Brooke’s the greatest friend,” said Ms. Breitbarth, a fellow senior. “She cares about everyone and is genuinely the nicest person. She’s also always there for me. I’m really lucky to have a best friend like her.”
Ms. Goldsmith’s favorite teachers include Anthony Troffa, Joseph Cohen and Tara Fisher.
“Brooke Goldsmith is an all-around amazing person, said junior and teammate Holly Wright. “Not only is she one of my favorite people to play field hockey with, she’s one of my closest friends off the field. Brooke walks into a room and automatically lights it up; her smile and laugh are contagious! Next year no matter where she ends up, I know she will do absolutely great.”
The teenager hasn’t finalized her college plans yet, but would like to attend a university in the south. “I’m going in undecided as of right now,” she said.
“I’ve been a friend and teammate of Brooke’s for long enough to know what a terrific person she is and just how bright her future is going to be,” said junior Megan Byrnes, a fellow Huntington field hockey player. “Some of her best qualities include her sense of humor and her kindness and caring. She always goes out of her way to make others feel important and included and she’s a true leader both on and off the field. We will surely miss her next year.”
“My overall experience in Huntington has been nothing but amazing,” Ms. Goldsmith said. “Every year at the high school has been outstanding. The people at the high school is what makes Huntington so great.”
